Draft Your Budget
You’d think this one would be obvious, no matter what type of wedding you’re having, but you’d be surprised how many couples find themselves either going over budget or being shocked by the bill at the end because they completely forgot to budget at all.
When couples go over budget, it’s usually because they waited until the last minute to try and think of everything.
Just as when you’re packing your suitcases for a big trip, you’re probably going to forget something the first time.
So, it’s best to start drafting your list of items and putting things into your suitcase at least several days before.
It also doesn’t hurt to get someone (especially someone who has already gotten married or attended a wedding on a golf course) to review your list and suggest anything you may have forgotten.
Make Your Arrangements As Far In Advance As Possible
Don’t get thrown off your game by finding out only a few days before your wedding date that something you had expected to have isn’t available or has already been reserved by someone else.
There are reasons why couples often schedule their weddings a year in advance, and it’s not just because they’re nervous to tie the knot.
Before you start inviting people or paying for anything, you want to first make sure that both the venue itself and all the things you’ll need for the event are reserved.
That means catering, wedding planners, photographers, and everything else.
Unless the golf course you’ve chosen already has a team of vendors and wedding professionals they prefer to work with (more on that ahead!), you’ll probably need to find and communicate with all of these people yourself.

Select a Golf Course
This seems like the easiest and most obvious thing on this list, but there’s actually a lot that goes into selecting the right location to host your wedding on a golf course.
Not all golf courses are created equal, and even your favorite course to play on may or may not be the best one to host your wedding on.
For starters, your favorite golf course might not do weddings, or they might already have the whole year booked by other couples.
In addition to that, you’ll want to make sure that your chosen golf course can accommodate and work with any vendors or other professionals you’ll hire for the event, such as the caterer, the photographer, and so on.
It’s essential to the smooth execution of a wedding on a golf course that all of the vendors and providers involved gel with each other and that nobody gets confused or caught off guard because of a communication failure.
Lastly, remember that many gold courses are already quite experienced at hosting weddings and may already have a team of preferred vendors they’ve worked successfully with in the past.
Play Some Golf!
It would be a bit crazy to go to all the trouble of arranging your wedding on a golf course if you then proceeded to leave without actually playing any golf.
You might need to bring an extra pair of clothes, but since golf isn’t the most strenuous game on the planet, you may not even have to do that.
Just make sure you make all the appropriate reservations, including reserving the golf carts, while you’re planning everything and making all the relevant phone calls.
This is only a personal opinion, but we really love golf here because, aside from being a lot of fun, it’s an outdoor activity that spouses and everyone else they love, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy a game of together.
Because of that, you may even find that you both want to make golf a more regular part of your married life and take some time every week or two to get some fresh air, play a few rounds, and maybe even bring your kids later.

As you can see, it’s not terribly difficult or complicated to plan your wedding on a golf course, and it may be even easier if your chosen golf course is already experienced at hosting weddings.
All you need to do is scout a few courses, talk to the management, make all the appropriate reservations, and then start sending out your invitations.
